I've been colouring my hair for over 20 years, using different brands, so I'm used to rinsing out dye, however, eSalon dye has left an unpleasant waxy type residue in my hair - I've washed it 6 or 7 times now (and soaked it in a hot bath for 20 minutes) & still it hasn't come out - I can't get a brush through my hair, so it looks a mess. It has also left my hair looking quite dull, which isn't satisfactory as my hair is naturally quite shiny/glossy. I have never come across a hair product like it and have never had this happen with previous dyes, so I certainly won't be buying from eSalon again.

I had seriously waxy hair in May and people said that shouldn't have happened at all. I've never had this problem before.

Got more dye from e salon and I used it today. My hair again felt waxy.

Fortunately I had some clarifying shampoo and I hope this prevented the disaster I had.in May. Never using e salon again.


I've used eSalon for over 5 years. About 1 1/2 years ago I also experienced a problem with the dye not rinsing out.....it left my hair gummy, waxy and dirty looking.

The formula must have changed.

They say they're working on a formula with a creme base to replace the current gel-based formula. I'll try it agan when that happens because I loved the color.


I ordered from e-Salon for both myself and my daughter. I just coloured my daughter's hair with it and she hated it.

It left a terrible waxy residue in her hair and we can't get it out. Ugh!

Now, I am trying to fix it. Thinking not using it on my hair.


I agree. I feel like they have changed their formula or something.

I have been using the product for quite a few years and over the past year or so, I can't ever get it out. I have to wash my hair 3 times - at least.
