I did, last year, and everything was ok. I decided to do it again...

Now I am left in tears... My scalp was BLACK for weeks, and since May 29, 2017 my hair is falling out so rapidly, that it is impossible not to cry over it. I have been trying to keep my hair as healthy as possible... Growing them out, not using anything but a natural organic shampoos.

Well, this has taught me a lesson. One month later, I have half the hair I used to have, I am scared to touch them because each time I do a new "batch" comes out. My wedding is in September of this year. If this will continue, I will be bold by then.

I am ready to file a law suit. Also, I emailed them, asking if there was any change in their formula. The only response I got was an automated message and suggestion I see my physician, oh, and my favorite: you didn't follow the rules of application. To that I can only say there is no one in this country more careful and cautious than me, when it comes to hair dye...

Please, do not purchase this scam. You will be sorry.

Reason of review: Bad quality.

Preferred solution: Law suit.

eSalon Cons: Product and customer service.

I have loved esalon. I've been using them for a couple years now and I haven't had any problems, and their customer service has been top notch.

I'm surprised to hear this. I hope everything gets back to normal for you soon.

The only thing you can do at this point is to eat protein and use a medicated hair products. I got my hair back in a year.

Yes, that is how bad it was. Iโ€™m sorry you have to go through this.

I'm happy to hear that your hair has recovered. If you would, please share the brand name of the medicated hair products that you used?

True, I should have known better!

I also had issues with their hair color!! I have found that there is some kind of wax that is in their formula!!!

For months it felt like tar in my hair so I stopped using it for a while and found a lot of sediment in the color bottle!! Have also noticed they have decreased the amounts in the bottles!!!

I am also considering suing them!! Not to mention that they increased the price, almost double $$!!!!!

I an so sorry for your experience. Mine was absolutely terrible and even when I brought up any kind of legal threat, I was bashed with how many satisfied customers they have and that I am not important.

My wedding day was ruined in this matter and I was forced to purchase hair (amazing quality hair, btw), for a lot of money, just to save the situation.

Thank God my husband didnโ€™t care, although I could tell he was a bit disgusted by the fact I wore someone elseโ€™s hair... eSalon should be ashamed by the fact how they handled my situation last year, and if you can, sue them!!!

I am very sorry you went thru this. I watched your video and I have the same kind of hair, so I totally understand how i.portant thick hair is.

Mine is curly, too. I have used Esalon 5 times and am happy with the comor. But not happy with how much ammonia they use. THAT is what is making your hair fall out per my Dr.

Mine started to, until I learned how to work with it. It's not Esalon. It's the ammonia. Try Madison Reed as they use NO ammonia, but it wont last as long for sure.

It will fade as ammonia makes it last. Allboxedcolors have it cept for Henna and Mad. Reed. Add stress on top and maybe a sensitive scalp.

( I dont know) and ammonia loves you. My hair is RED and I love Esalons red. It's hard to fin a good one. My hair tangles super badly after any color, so it pulls out when you comb it wet.

I was freaking g out until I realized there were things I could do. Now I'm using a very wide toothed comb, really following their directions (shampooing out rt after like it says to (and using a detangling spray that is incredible- Oribe Detangling Primer. It's amazing. I also dont rub my scalp hard while applying color.

Its seeming to have fixed things. I was under a lot of stress from an accident/ surgeries so that may have contributed. But I still dont think its the company. Check out using NO ammonia products like Mad.

Reed. You'll be happier. Plus it's cheaper.

I truly wish you the best. Warmly, Pam

Hi Kate,

Were so sorry to hear about your recent hair color experience and can understand how stressful this situation must be for you.

Many factors can contribute to hair loss and in rare cases, one can develop sensitivity to hair color over time, even if one has previously applied the same brand of hair color with no reaction.

We would still recommend consulting with your doctor to determine whether youve developed an allergy to other products or specific hair dye ingredients.

We are very concerned about your experience and would welcome the opportunity to speak with you personally. Please call me toll-free at your earliest convenience. I can be reached Monday through Friday, 9 am to 6 pm, PT at (866) 550-2424 x676.

With kind regards,

Monica D. Higgins Director | Color + Care Team | eSalon

Dear Monica D. Higgins,

I was advised to keep everything in writing from now on, so I apologize, but I will not be calling you.

Yes, this situation is very stressful and truly unfortunate.

I saw my physician last Friday who has also expressed her concern.

My wedding reception was the very same day (July 7th, 2017) and she clearly did not want to stress me even more, so she decided that I must to come in again next week to possibly figure out if there is anything what can be done to stop or slow down the excessive hair shedding. It was fun to fill out her questionnaire about that particular issue, let me tell you that.

Frankly, I must disclose the following; getting ready for my wedding reception last Friday was supposed to be a happy occasion. I must say, it was everything but that. I cannot even style my hair anymore, and the looks on guest's faces were more of a shock rather than "we are so happy for you!".

One person actually asked me if I was alright, checking to see if I was going through some chemotherapy, there is 100% no joke to that comment.

So, I must thank you (!!) for ruining the supposedly happiest moment of my life - the first part. I am getting ready for the wedding ceremony on a beach in September, and I am already searching Amazon for wigs. The expenses of this damage keeps growing, ironically, unlike my hair volume. Thank God I have a wonderful partner who does not care if I had any hair on my head left.

Additionally, the package I sent back was returned to me. Apparently it was not accepted?? I am shipping it again today. If this e-mail comes across as rude, I apologize, I am really that frustrated.

After reading my complaint, I expect an official response as soon as possible. Sincerely, Kate Martin

Iโ€™m so sorry for your experience BUT who would do anything drastic such as coloring hair at home the day of the wedding???

I understand being upset, however, who does this kind of thing that close to a life altering, highly critical, stressful yet wonderful event. I have always read and been told to not do anything of this kind anywhere close to an event of such importance.

There is always the chance decisions we make for ourselves may not be the best idea. I can honestly say that I dont know anyone that has even thought of doing something like this within even four months of their weddings. I use deal on and recommend it to friends because it is that easy and looks that good for me. I've been coloring my hair for nearly three decades and the absolute worst was when I was around fifteen and went way too dark.

I thought my life was totally over... until the terrible haircut of 1993... and yes, I did wear detentions to my high school prom that year. I'm not trying to mock or make anyone feel like I'm unsympathetic.

My biggest cringe here is the part about coloring your hair the day of or so close to a day of such importance to you. My mother colored her hair for as long as I can remember and maybe I just kinda assumed that t hes mishaps go with the territory... I am sorry that you or anyone else have had this reaction and I am the first to start complaining usually when something I've purchased or had issues of this relivence come at me. I do believe there is a measure of common sense to be taken in to consideration here.

For one, this isn't a normal reaction, and it's best to get it checked out for several reasons. I am not a hairstylist by any means, but I was a nurse for quite a few years and the allergic reaction development is a very possible and obvious reason for such things to happen. One thing is certain, as far as statistically, not counting the instances where someone just plain hated the color, or there was a bit of discomfort- chemicals are reacting on the scalp no matter who is doing the procedure, statistically there isn't an issue with the origin of the product. I hope I explained that right...

while I do empathize, I want to make sure that this is seen as a minority reaction. The majority of us that do color their hair at home, besides the occasional 'oh crap... what did I do, what was I thinking, the octor's all wrong...' coloring our hair at home or even at a salon isn't going to be this devastating to us. I hope very much that you and anyone else gets this taken care of and all goes favorably, but if there is a problem of this magnitude, it is always a good thing to make sure nothing a bit more serious is going on.

Put together a very stressful event, stress is huge factor with hair loss and add allergic reaction to the mix- it doesn't fair well in any case. While I would be upset and would be speaking to a customer service rep to help fix the situation, as long as the customer service rep was cordial and tried to help with solutions, it wouldn't necessarily keep me as a consumer from buying from the same if not similar products. The important thing here is health, although I am sure the time that this happened was not exactly the most precise but we still need to know if there is something that is going to cause these type of situations to protect against in the future. After all, we make the decisions on what products we are going to buy and use.

Yes, we have to be vigilant to make sure they aren't harmful to anyone, but not everyone is going to have the same reaction. Yes, do let other consumers know that you've had the issue you've had, so they may be aware of this to seek help if finding themselves in similar situations. What works for me, may not work for you. That's just how things are.

I wouldn't automatically demonize one particular company manufacturing a product available to the masses by countless other companies that have had the same issues arise. I hate to say it but in this world we have to look at the entire picture instead of zeroing in on just one area.
